On Tuesday, Notorious B.I.G.'s long-awaited digital collection "Sky's The Limit" was released and quickly went out of stock. To honor Biggie's long legacy, the hip-hop legend's estate, The Christopher Wallace Estate, selected the NFT market, Oneof, for the NFT collection of 3000 3D avatars.
In just ten minutes, the official drop was sold out. The NFTs are still available for purchase on the Oneof platform's secondary market.
His genuine street style and words are portrayed in the collection of generative art pieces. As of this writing, there are 683 listings, 1161 owners, and a floor price of $114.
And OMG, it has a shockingly useful feature for upcoming rap artists!!!
Holders of NFTs can first join the Sky's The Limit Collective. Here, members control 80 percent of the voting power on the use of Biggie Smalls' music, particularly the renowned "Fulton Street Freestyle," by rap performers, DJs, and musicians. They all share the audio licensing. Wow!!!
The key selling point for any hip-hop fan or musician, though, is that getting a Notorious B.I.G. NFT entitles you to license, sample, and download the previously unreleased freestyle audio. Even better, you may entitle your records "Featuring Notorious B.I.G."
Biggie performed the freestyle rap when he was seventeen on a Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn, corner.
Biggie's estate's representative, Wayne Barrow, said,
Biggie's music is a crucial component of hip hop culture and has a significant global influence.
"We are confident that sharing the infamous freestyle with his fans in this way would make him proud," he continued. "Our business partner, Elliot Osagie of Willingie Inc., came up with the concept of coming together with OneOf to share the freestyle that made the world aware of the icon that Biggie would soon become through an NFT.
For the drop, the Christopher Wallace estate chose the Web3 business Oneof. Whitney Houston is one of the other legendary musicians on the platform. The business is an NFT platform that uses the Tezos blockchain and is "Green."
"We're happy to work with The Christopher Wallace Estate to recognize Biggie's ongoing legacy, in web3 and beyond, and we have some fantastic surprises for NFT holders along the way," said Joshua James, co-founder of Oneof.
"We dubbed this NFT collection Sky's the Limit because we feel this is a watershed moment in NFTs where foundational artists like Biggie and his truest followers can drive culture and drive value together," he continued.
"We are excited about our partnership with OneOf and their expertise to memorialize my son Christopher with this first official NFT drop to give his fans an opportunity to participate in and honor their love of him and his music," Biggie's mother, Voletta Wallace, said in a statement on behalf of Biggie's estate.
With his well-known freestyle, Notorious B.I.G., who would have turned 50 this year, was one of his generation's most important rappers. His career was cut short after he was shot dead in 1997 in Los Angeles as a result of a fight with Tupac, who had passed away the year before. The NFT line served as a method to commemorate Biggie's life.
In addition to receiving a digital asset as a Notorious B.I.G. NFT holder, you may also be eligible to receive income from sales of songs that incorporate the sample.
