Moonbirds and Oddities will both be covered under a Creative Commons license, according to a recent announcement by Kevin Rose, the author of the well-known non-fungible token (NFT) collection Moonbirds (CCO).
One of 2022's most profitable NFT projects, Moonbirds has generated more than $500 million in trade volume in a short period of time. One will cost at least $29,500 in ETH as of this writing. To use its imagery, though, you won't need to buy a Moonbird, according to its creators.
A Creative Commons license signifies that there are "no rights reserved" for the company's intellectual property (IP). Creators are free to renounce all legal claims to their work and release it into the public domain when they do so legally. In other words, there are no longer any restrictions on the use of Moonbirds' and Oddities NFT's work due to copyright issues.
The project's terms and services will be updated on its website, and a Q&A session was held to go over them on August 5 at the Moonbirds Parliament Twitter Spaces.
The ability to have total control over the digital assets one owns is one of the most important advantages for collectors that the most successful NFT efforts have been able to offer. Moonbirds is expanding the idea by allowing everyone to use the Moonbirds and Oddities NFT collections way they see fit, as opposed to just NFT holders.
We'll have to wait and see what NFT fans and collectors think about the most current initiative, but if the BAYC's most recent initiatives are any indication, Moonbirds and Oddities will probably be used in unique and imaginative ways.
