The NFT was delivered to the country in March, just as it was starting to raise money with cryptocurrencies.
Today marks the sale of the extremely expensive non-fungible token (NFT), CryptoPunk #5364, which Ukraine received as a gift at the beginning of March as part of its fundraising efforts for its fight with Russia.
Alex Bornyakov, the country's deputy minister for digital development, confirmed the transaction in a tweet on Monday.
The NFT was sold to an unidentified bidder for 90 ETH, or around $100,000 at the time of writing. The Punk was first transferred to Ukraine's Ethereum wallet with an estimated worth of up to $260,000 until the price of ETH rapidly dropped in early March.
Ukraine has received more than $135 million in cryptocurrency donations since making its wallet public in February, including $6.75 million from the sale of a single Ukrainian flag NFT.
Recent weeks have seen a sharp increase in the price of CryptoPunk NFTs due to rumours that Yuga Labs has hired a new brand lead for the line.
