Reddit launched NFT avatars for its users in July, marking the platform's entry into the NFT market. Nearly two months later, Reddit has just revealed yet another NFT project. The social media site will airdrop free NFTs to some of its subscribers this time.
The Reddit crew emphasized in an official article that only elite users with high karma levels will receive NFTs. Karma is a point system inside the Reddit community that individuals can build up by posting and interacting with other users.
In essence, Reddit exclusively honors people who have participated the most in its communities. The NFT airdrop, as explained in the piece, is a means to give a high karma score more useful meaning. Reddit's karma system has been around for years.
"The Collectible Avatars adventure has entered a new phase as of today. According to the post, one that might finally address the issue "What are all these internet points good for?"
Aww Friends, Drip Squad, Meme Team, and The Singularity are the four collectible avatar categories from which those who are chosen can select. These NFTs will shortly be distributed and are based on the Polygon blockchain.
